Alappuzha (Alleppey) is 1½ hours drive by road from Cochin Airport or 3 hours from Trivandrum International Airport. A 15 minute boat-cruise from Alappuzha (Alleppey) boat-jetty takes you to Keraleeyam.
Keraleeyam is a Heritage Home and Ayurvedic Resort, located at a breathtakingly beautiful spot facing the backwaters. Keraleeyam is housed in a traditional, tiled Kerala home built 70 years back. A "Kalithattu" or open air theatre in-front of Keraleeyam, periodically stages folk art-forms. The property is so exclusive that it accommodates only 11 people at a time. Food
Traditional Kerala cuisine of rice and spicy curries, are served on plantain leaves, 'Puttu' (or steamed rice-cake with coconut gratings prepared in bamboo shell ) etc. are served in traditional style. Choice of selected of Continental and Chinese cuisine is also offered.
Keraleeyam serves traditional Kerala food in befitting style. Dining is furnished in traditional ambience. Food served in Plantain leaves is an experience you can have nowhere else. Kerala rice and spicy curries offer a mouth watering delicacy. Vegetarian and non- vegetarian menu options are available. Limited choice of Chinese and Continental cuisine is also available. Fresh water fishes like "Karimeen" (Pearl spot), Tiger Prawn and Lobster add variety to the menu. During Onam the people, flora and fauna of Kerala join together in celebration. Unique art, dance and sport forms like Thiruvathira Kali (Women's group dance) Kaduvakali (Dances painted with tiger stripes) and Snake Boat Race add gaiety to Onam.

Alleppey town (now called Alappuzha) is built around canals. Town has a lots of bridges and old buildings with typical Kerala architecture.

Majority of Kerala temples are made of wood. They are constructed according to classical Indian architectural computation. Temples are sacred places of worship for Hindus.

Coconut palm bridge : Kuttanad has a large network of small and large canals. Single large coconut palm tree is put across to bridge the canals.

An old wooden goods carrier boat is now converted into a luxurious house boat with bedrooms, sit -outs, toilet and kitchen.
We pick up our guests from Alleppey Town in country boats or motor boat. Keraleeyam is accessible by road also.
Traditional cooking vessels are made of brass or bronze having long necks and round bottoms. Special Kerala delicacies like "Iddli" , "Puttu" , "Nool puttu" , are prepared in these utensils.
Kerala costumes are very typical and simple . Keraleeyam offers its guests Kerala costume to dress up like a bride and groom for getting photographed.
Rice porridge known as 'palkanji' is prepared by adding coconut milk with Malabar spices to cooked rice. This is served in golden bronze vessel with leaf spoon. Try this with your breakfast.
Kerala has the largest backwaters in Asia. People live in small houses surrounded by water. Canoes are used for their transport.
